‘Best of’ Winner Penns Woods Winery Becomes a Chadds Ford Staple for Oenophiles

The vineyard proves that great wines can come from Pennsylvania-grown grapes.

A visit to Penns Woods Winery’s 30-acre property in Chadds Ford transports you to a vineyard in Napa Valley. But Penns Woods produces award-winning wines from 100-percent Pennsylvania-grown grapes.

Following its crowning of  “Best Local Winery” by Main Line Today in 2014 and its attendance at the Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs Party, more wine lovers from the Delaware and Pennsylvania regions are enjoying wine made in their own backyard.

“The party brought new people to the vineyard,” says marketing director Carley Mack, who’s also the daughter of the winery’s founder, Gino Razzi. “We were able to talk and meet people that—even though they may have lived right around the corner—never came to visit. They were shocked and pleased to learn about our winery and how delicious local wines are.”

Mack says it gave new and old customers the opportunity to sample specialties like Penns Woods’ Riesling 2013, Chardonnay Reserve 2012, White Merlot 2013 and Chambourcin 2010. She adds that one of the major draws of the party was being able to connect with other businesses.

“Don’t miss out,” Mack says. “It is a great event that will open your eyes to the incredible food, drink and artisans in the area. It is shocking how many amazing small businesses are in our area. Plus the food, drinks and entertainment are over-the-top!”

2015’s Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs Party on Thursday, July 23, is sure to live up to Mack’s—and our—expectations. Buy tickets here.
