After a successful inaugural run last year, Tyler Arboretum is again partnering with Aston-based 2SP Brewing Company to bring Tyler on Tap back to Media. Running every Friday from July 5-Aug. 23, visitors can enjoy the beautiful arboretum after hours, sipping brews, noshing on food and participating in educational family-friendly activities.
The pop-up beer garden will open at 5:30 p.m. each Friday and admission is free. “This is a great way for people to see Tyler in the evenings,” says Brian Plato, special events coordinator at the arboretum. “Our mission is to promote and protect nature, and we want to try to expose as many people as possible to what we consider one of the jewels of Delaware County.”
Each Tyler on Tap event will be held at a different location throughout the 100-acre space to give attendees a unique experience every week. There will also be a variety of presenters leading activities and discussion that range from stargazing to the invasive spotted lanternfly, which are perfect for adults and children alike.
There will be no shortage of great local brews throughout Tyler on Tap, with 2SP providing a rotating lineup of craft beers each week. The July 5 event will feature six beers, including two 2SP mainstays, the juicy Up and Out IPA and the American amber, Delco Lager. An assortment of food trucks will also set up shop for pay-as-you-go dining options.
This isn’t 2SP’s first foray into conservation efforts—the brewery partnered with Tyler Arboretum on several occasions last year, and has worked with the Audubon Society in the past. The company is also a member of the Brewers for the Delaware River Association, which advocates for preservation of the Delaware River Basin. Michael Contreras, 2SP director of sales and marketing, says working with Tyler Arboretum helps further the brewery’s mission of local engagement and promoting environmentally-friendly practices.
