Barbecue beacon Sterling Pig Brewery of Media is seizing the coveted spot of the former Nakasaki Sushi and Noodles Restaurant in the center of West Chester to create its vision of a public house taproom sometime in November. Promising an industrial vibe in the expansive 3,000 square-foot space, co-owner/chef Loic Barnieu hints at the same barbecue favorites as the mothership, with the addition of signature artisan sandwiches to pair with Delco-themed brews.

Also in West Chester—with existing pub locations in Collegeville, Harrisburg and Lancaster—Appalachian Brewing is rehabbing the former R’Alehouse at Boxcar at the east end of town. The menu will lean toward elevated pub fare, combined with flavorful flagship and seasonal beers. Look for a fall opening.

Amplifying its popularity from the successful Royersford location, owner Jim Buckman is “looking forward to bringing some much needed taproom-action to Chester Springs.” Slated to open in September at the former Vinny’s location, expect over 100 seats inside and out, plus a diverse bistro pub menu, over the counter service and a relaxing beer garden vibe with music and play-along games.

Vice president and CMO Dan Hershberg is looking at an early September opening for his initial foray into King of Prussia’s hops scene. Look for no-nonsense brews, BYOF (bring your own food) or rotating food trucks to serve a large communal beer hall-style bar, with high-top tables, benches and lounge seating with views of all the brewing action.

Located within a secluded industrial park next to the popular Locust Lane Brewery in Malvern, this small batch distillery recently opened for flights, signature cocktails, bottle sales and by-appointment tours.
