Beer vs. Wine Throwdown Takes Over Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

Which do you prefer: beer or wine? Have both at this second-annual spirits smackdown.

It’s an age-old question: beer or wine? Decide for yourself Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Phoenixville, as the brewpub squares off against Black Walnut Winery for the Beer vs. Wine Dinner 2.0!

Iron Hill brewer Tim Stumpf and Black Walnut winemaker Lance Castle will duke it out for a second time in their quest to convince you that their beverage rules the roost. The competition at the first Beer vs. Wine Dinner was fierce. Diners can expect more of the same this year as the battle heats up.

Feast on a five-course menu accompanied by five beers and five wines, then cast your vote for your favorite. Menu highlights will include smoked day boat scallops prepared with spicy papaya relish, micro greens and coconut caramel sauce, paired with Iron Hill’s Hefeweizen and Black Walnut’s 2009 Mischief. Braised veal cheek, accompanied by asparagus ribbons, crispy beets and verjus lobster broth and paired with a Hertog Jan brew and a 2009 cabernet sauvignon, will also be on the menu.
