Bardolino Italian Steakhouse and Seafood Restaurant has shut its doors after only a few months of serving Italian favorites like pizzas, mushroom risotto and roasted rack of lamb. Despite a summer opening in Glen Mills, the owners—Sam and Jack Mavraj, Lisa Carman and Phil Wenrich—cite family and health problems as the reasons behind the restaurant’s closure. The owners have chosen to take this time and put a hold on building their brand.
A message posted on Bardolino’s website thanks diners for their support and patronage, and suggests they visit the family’s other restaurant, La Verona, in Kennett Square. Named for the Northern Italian village that was the setting for Romeo and Juliet, La Verona serves traditional Italian fare for lunch and dinner, and features a full bar and outdoor patio seating at 114 State Street.
