A perennial favorite among local vegans and vegetarians, Malvern’s Greyhound Café serves nothing but a plant-based menu. Dig into the impossible burger, a six-ounce patty with the works—lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and chipotle mayonnaise. You won’t even know it’s not beef. The impossible burger also comes as sliders if you want to share—but trust us, you won’t.

Founded by Elkins Park native Nicole Marquis, HipCityVeg serves exclusively vegan ingredients, but you’d be hard pressed to tell. The restaurant offers six burgers, from a traditional option made with tempeh to a curry tofu wrap to ones made with portabella mushrooms. A can’t miss, though, is the Philly Steak, topped with onion, ketchup and cheese.

The former, as the name suggests, is a beet burger topped with jicama slaw, avocado, lettuce, kuzu and vegan mayo, sandwiched between a flaxseed bun. Or try the T.L.T., made with tempeh.
