3 Pup-Friendly Events This August

Bring your dog or support local shelters at these fun local festivities.

August can be a scorcher, so while you’re treating yourself to some cold ice cream, don’t forget to indulge your furry friend, too. Whether bringing your pup to a local event featuring homemade dog treats or helping other dogs in need, August has plenty of pooch-related events to keep you busy.

Dog Days of Summer at Swarthmore CO-OP
Aug. 18

Stop by the Swarthmore CO-OP from 5-8 p.m. for a dog-friendly patio party. This event will feature Zsa’s Gourmet Ice Cream and Mompops gourmet popsicles for human attendees, and Bo’s Bones Gourmet Organic Dog Biscuits for the pups. The CO-OP will remain open during the event, so browse the shelves stocked with a variety of products from more than 110 local vendors. Since Zsa is the CO-OP’s featured August vendor, consider taking home a pint of salted caramel or chocolate truffles.

Dining Out For the Dogs at White Dog Cafe
Aug. 21

Join WMMR’s Preston and Steve at White Dog Cafe on Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. and enjoy a local and seasonal dinner. WMMR on-air personalities will be at all three White Dog locations. A portion of proceeds will go toward Alpha Bravo Canine. This organization—headed by dog trainer Jennifer Green and her veteran son Kevin—works to provide veterans with a fully-trained service dog, especially those suffereing from PTSD. Additionally, White Dog Cafe has committed to purchasing a puppy from each of its locations to help three veterans. You can help even if you can’t make it to the dinner: when you dine from now until Aug. 20 at any White Dog Cafe, the restaurant will match your donation.

Pints For Pups at Victory Parkesburg
Aug. 26

Get your tickets now for Pints for Pups at Victory Brewing Company in Parkesburg and support To Love a Canine Rescue. Based in Chester County, TLC is a nonprofit foster dog rescue working to find permanent homes for all breeds, strays and abandoned dogs. With your $25 admission fee, you get to dine on a smorgasbord of pretzel bites, fresh salad, mac and cheese and pulled barbecue chicken sandwiches.
