Ardmore, Bala Cynwyd and West Chester recently welcomed some new additions to their culinary scenes and they have us clamoring to visit.
Edie’s Sweet & Savory Pastries
We couldn’t wait for this sweet treat to open in West Chester, and now that it has, we’re excited about the savory, too. Stop by for a vegetable and cheese quiche (asparagus white cheddar, broccoli cheddar, sun- dried tomato Asiago or spinach onion Swiss), chicken pot pie, roasted tomato tartlet, herbes de Provence with goat cheese scones, or bruschetta cornbread to go with your coffee or tea. Take your breakfast to go, or sit down at a table overlooking bustling Market Street. Sweets include buttermilk currant scones, chocolate chip cheesecake, coconut macaroons, peanut butter and jam bars, and French apple pear pie. Edie’s is mpen Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.–6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

This two-story newcomer, conveniently located next to Ardmore Music Hall, is the brainchildren of owners Peter Martin and chef Bill Gottehrer. Expect elevated pub fare like seared scallops with oxtail marmalade, beer-battered Icelandic cod, braised short rib in a Dr. Pepper glaze and gourmet burgers. There’s also a full bar serving creative cocktails—the Buzzed Bunny has Dewar’s Scotch, fresh carrot juice, ginger, lemon and a rosemary spritz—and two kinds of kombucha on tap. The restaurant is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; dinner starts at 5 p.m. Brunch will be served starting in May.
