Spring Training: Benjamin Flower’s Artificers and Makers

Join craftspeople as they recreate the work of supplying the army. During the Revolutionary War, Philadelphian Benjamin Flower (whose portrait is on display at the Museum) commanded a group of “artificers,” soldiers and civilians who made and repaired cartridge boxes, canteens, and cannon carriages for the Continental Army. Converse with costumed interpreters about these makers and try your hand at an array of trades.
