Dr. Patrick Vannelli has been a board-certified allergist/immunologist for seven years and has been a physician with Allergy & Asthma Specialists for just under three years. He sees patients of all ages in the Blue Bell, Collegeville, Philadelphia and Jenkintown offices.
Vannelli grew up in Buffalo, N.Y., and received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Goryeb Children’s Hospital, where he was chief resident. He completed his fellowship in allergy/immunology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. “I married a woman from New Jersey 13 years ago, and we really enjoy the area—it’s a nice place to raise a family,” says Vannelli.
Having suffered from allergies as a child, Vannelli chose to pursue a career in the allergy-and-immunology field. “You see the things every day that people are affected by and are able to help those people out,” he says.
Vannelli truly enjoys his ability to improve the quality of his patients’ lives. “I can do some testing and get immediate answers. I am giving people other options—it’s a good feeling,” he says.
Vannelli has a few tips for people suffering from allergies or who may be considering a visit to an allergist. “Lately, winter has been lasting longer, and we seem to skip over spring. People with seasonal allergies need to be proactive and see their allergist before the season, making their allergies a lot easier to control,” he says.
And that runny nose or rash you’ve been dealing with for a while may not be related to allergies. “We can get you answers right away with skin testing that takes 15 minutes and help you put a plan together,” says Vannelli.
