Wine, Women & Shoes to Benefit Fight Against Alzhemiers

The event will be hosted on Sunday, March 12 at the Merion Cricket Club.

Joy Clancy’s mother succumbed to Alzheimer’s when she was just 57. Today, Clancy is a champion of research into cures for the disease, which affects more than five million Americans. And what many people don’t realize is that nearly two-thirds of them are women.

Clancy’s Devon-based consulting agency, Corle + Hand, is producing the fashion show for the fourth annual Wine Women & Shoes event, which will be held 2-6 p.m. on March 12 at the Merion Cricket Club. Hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, the benefit kicks off with tasting and shopping. Seven vendors will be on hand for the “boutique-style strolling marketplace,” says Kathryn DiSalvo, senior director of special events for the chapter. The afternoon will also include passed hors d’oeuvres, a fashion-focused silent auction, and a raffle featuring wine-and-food prizes.

In keeping with this year’s theme, “Winter Escape: Follow the Sun,” the fashion show will spotlight resort-wear labels like Sail to Sable and Marie Oliver. The event is expected to raise about $150,000.
