Cold weather got you down? Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen wants to keep the winter blues at bay with its new tiki-themed bar. The aptly named Aloha Room will open upstairs at the Kennett Square restaurant on Jan. 23, bringing some much-needed warmth to the borough.
The novelty concept—which is only open for a limited time—will serve island vibes Mondays through Fridays starting at 3 p.m., all day Saturdays and select hours on Sundays. “Our goal is for people to come to Kennett Square and escape to the islands, if only for a few hours,” says co-owner Lee Mikles, who came up with the immersive tropical experience alongside fellow co-owner Jim O’Donoghue.

Expect a tropical menu, complete with rum-forward cocktails like the Tropic Thunder, which is served in a ceramic volcano bowl for two. Other island-inspired drinks will come in tiki glasses topped with tiny umbrellas. The transformed space will also feature a Polynesian – inspired food menu, which includes Pipeline Shrimp and a tiki salmon, in addition to Grain’s traditional menu. The Aloha Room is the first in a series of rotating theme concepts for the restaurant’s upstairs space, which are expected to roll out throughout the year.
